No. We are proudly not OFQUAL-regulated.
Why ‘proudly’? Our courses are affordable, which isn’t possible if they’re OFQUAL-regulated. Instead, we have private, rather than government-affiliated, accreditation to quality-assure our company’s practice and our course content. What alot of people don’t know is that OFQUAL simply regulates assessments rather than content, whereas our accreditor actually regulates our content and how it’s assessed, and they do this for a far cheaper price. OFQUAL requires that course providers have assessors, who grade and provide feedback on TEFL assessments (in this context): the hourly wage of an assessor for practical assignments (of which there may be 6 to 10 in total) is more than the cost of our 120-hour course. A sample of graded assessments must also be passed to internal quality assessors (IQAs) at random: their hourly rate is even higher than general markers, of course. If you aren’t going for CELTA-requiring jobs (most TEFL jobs in the world do not require this level) then privately accredited TEFL certification is the winning formula and enough to secure work visas, for example, so long as you meet other requirements (e.g. nationality and education levels). Most TEFL providers pay an annual provider fee for OFQUAL regulation AND a set fee per student for registration – you pay that through your fees. Private accreditation is cheaper, so the per student overhead is lower, which is passed on to you, the student. If you doubt a course’s quality, ask for a sample of the learning quality: we provide this to you and allow 7 days to refund within the free lesson.
Our courses are refundable, but with a caveat that you must not have passed through to the paid, non-free units. Digital law protects digital course providers and their content by allowing us to charge a reasonable fee for digital content consumed that we are unable to protect as with tangible products
TEFLproAcademy’s 120-hour TEFL course and 220-hour TEFL courses are accredited by OTCAC, meaning that our quality has been objectively assured by a private source. Our accreditation number is 20251030N. We are also accredited by OTCAC as a company, meaning that we have been verified against a series of benchmarks.
TPA courses are fully automated, meaning you work at your own pace and complete assessments once you reach a certain level of confidence (knowledge) in each set module or unit. To enroll, simply click on any ‘Buy Now’ button or link, make your secure payment at the same time as you create an account, and you’ll be redirected to the course (all students must complete the 120-hour TEFL course – even those doing the 200-hour course first learn the foundations of TEFL before moving to more focused courses on adults and young learners).
You have up to 6 months to complete any of our courses. We also set time limits on how quickly you can pass through content, because our accreditation depends on our students learning the content and skills deeply rather than shallowly. The minimum time allowed to complete our 120-hour course is 12 days and the minimum time for our 200-hour course is 20 days. Unit assessments are time-locked. If you want to race through just for the sake of being TEFL certified, please choose another (less ‘learning conscious’) provider. We will not open quizzes/assessments early regardless of who asks or why they ask. We value quality teaching and learning and believe we have found a way to provide these without charging too much.
